I Gotta Have Faith. . .
Faith in the fact that all this saving is going to pay off! Tickets for George Michael's final arena concerts went on sale today. I'm not sure if it's his last concert ever, or if this just marks the end of the epic '25 Live' tour. I soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo want to go. I love George! I have done ever since I was about five-years old and 'Wham! Fantastic' was the first album I purchased (on cassette, naturally - it was the eighties after all!). I've always loved him, even through all the lewd loo action. I probably always will. He's got the most amazing voice, he's so charasmatic: yet mysterious, he doesn't follow the pack, mega talented, and well, darn sexy.
I've seen him twice already on the '25 Live' tour. When he first announced he was touring I couldn't believe it. I'd dreamt about seeing him in concert for about 10 years. I had to go!The first concert was at Birmingham NEC and was just fabulous - the high I had afterwards was just amazing in itself. Then last year I went to see him in Manchester - which was a bit soggy (the rain started as the support act, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, came on and didn't stop throughout the whole concert), but equally as fabulous.
Maybe I shouldn't be greedy I've seen him twice already. But what if it is the last ever concerts that he's going to play? What if I miss out? Isn't it better to regret the things you have done, rather than the things you haven't? I wanna hear his voice live again, it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It's only right to treat yourself occasionally, right? As he sings in the Wham hit, 'Wake Me Up' 'I wanna hit that hiiiiiiiiiiiiigh' (again) - at least I think that's what the words are, I do have a habit of making up my own lyrics to songs!
As you can see, I really wanna go and am finding lots of reasons to justify my attendance at said gig. However, he's only playing two gigs and they're both at Earls Court. The tickets are priced betwenen £50 and £100. So, with travel, accommodation and eats I'd probably be looking at around £200 at the very least! I am so-oo tempted it's untrue, but that's a lot of money and at the moment my priority should be saving for the house. I know that, and I want the house, but that doesn't make walking away from those tempting tickets any easier!
I decided to let fate take its course today. I left logging onto Ticketmaster until I got home from work, if there were tickets left I would have gone for it, if there wasn't I wouldn't. Sounds obvious, but ordinarily when Georgie M tickets go on sale I'm straight on the phone, hitting redial everytime I get the engaged tone. I have been known to be calling on my landline and mobile at the same time, while simulteanously checking the Internet. According to all the sites, the tickets have all sold out, but I'm aware that there might be more that appear over the next few days and then there's E-bay temptation too.
At the moment I am resisting giving into temptation, but for how long is anybody's guess!
What do you reckon - if I can get tickets, should I save or splurge?
Money Spent: 0.50p - well, a girls gotta have a Creme Egg 'Twisted' bar on a Friday!
Money Saved: About £200 if the above post is anything to go by!
Money Made: Nil
