Summer Holiday Spends

I'm getting there with this catching up malarkey aren't I?

Just thought I should fill you in on the holiday...well, it was fantastic. We went to Malta for seven days and it's such a beautiful country. It's got that nice laid back Mediterranean feel about it, that we're oh so lacking in Blighty. Also, sunshine by the mega-watt, another thing sadly missing from our shores. There's so much history there - sightseeing galore. Plus, lots of yummy eating establishments. And, did we blow the budget? Well, no actually we came back with some Lira and we've converted them back into sterling and put them to one side. We're going to open up a joint 'holiday fund' savings account and that will be our first investment. Everything we came across in Malta seemed cheaper than in the UK, not greatly so, but enough to keep us in spends. Plus, when you've got fab company, beautiful scenery and gorgeous weather - you don't really need to spend to have a good time.

With every great story there is always a but, or as Love of my Life would put it, 'an however'. While I was a very good girl on holiday (I even resisted buying a pink T-shirt, it was pink, it was cheap, I had cash, and yet I resisted - how good am I?) I wasn't so good in the build up to the holiday. Got the Barclaycard bill through yesterday. It itemises the 'few essential' clothing items I bought for the holiday. In fairness I did wear them all, and there's nothing that's not wearable in my non-holiday life. BUT, I'm not sure I needed to spend £160 of my hard-earned cash on my holiday wardrobe? Hmm. Needless to say I'm going to have to be pretty stingy this month in order to pay that off and keep within my means. But, I am going to do it! I am determined to not overspend this month. I will do it, I really will!
