Cheap Holiday Reads....

It's that time of year again, and whether you're jetting off to Jamacia, or making do with your own back yard, chances are the sunshine will encourage you to indulge the bookworm inside of you to a little alfresco reading.

So, what do you do? Indulge in the latest blockbusting, bestseller from Waterstones? Amble upon something interesting on the Amazon site? Not, if you're Babe on A Budget.

This weekend I indulged in two, yes two, beach reads, which were so bargainous that if they get covered in sand, suncream and sangria - well, so be it. No, I've not been stealing books from the library. On Saturday I took a nice leisurely stroll through my local town, stepping into each (of the many) charity shops to peruse their book sections. And, boy, do they have some fantastic reads! I picked up two Sophie Kinsella titles Shopaholic Ties the Knot for £1 and Undomestic Goddess for 50p! Plus, I'm doing my ickle bit for charity too. Hurrah - everyone's a winner baby - that's the truth!

So, if you're after some summer reads, but you don't want to shell out - head to your local charity shop and pick up some top books at rock bottom prices.

PS> The selection of books tends to be better in 'commuter' towns, due to the fast turnover of books that people read while travelling to work. If you live in London, you can expect to find some real blockbusters nestling amongst the Mills & Boon - go look!

Hi, my friends like the Shopaholic series. I like the lad lit writers from the UK, there aren't enough of them here in North America. I just started reading Sean Thomas' "Millions of women are waiting to meet you", a memoir of the author's year-long experience with online dating. So far it's pretty funny.

That book sounds very amusing - may have to check it out, from the library or charity shop natch...!
