Progress Report - April

Well, if it's month end, which means one thing - PAAAAAAY DAAAAAAAAY! Sorry, got a bit carried away there, but boy did it seem a long time coming!!

So, how have the old finances faired in this super sunny April?

Well, OK I'm slightly in debt, but I've saved more than I've over spent, so that's OK isn't it?!?!? Well, kind of...

As for the financial goals I set myself back at the end of March...

Aim 1
Save/make £217.14 by the end of April to pay off my March-induced overdraft
Progress: Well, I paid it off and then managed to go overdrawn by £57.28! I've now used some of this months savings to pay this off, and I'm going to try my darndest to stay in the black this month.

Aim 3 (two was done and dusted last month - hurrah!)
Save/make £435.00 for holiday spending money by start of June - this includes money for while we're there, travel insurance, getting to the airport, toiletries and holiday clothes.

Progress: Managed to save the princely sum of £51.56 during April. I've added to this with my montly savings and also rejigged my budget taking into account more realistic costs for tranpsort to the airport and insurance, with this in mind the remainder to save is £182.82. Not bad!

Aim 4
Save/make £115.00 for spending money for my weekend away to see the lovely George Michael by the start of June.
Progress: Zilch - sorry George!

Aim 5
Save £300 into a buffer zone for my current account, a kind of rainy day fund.
Progress: Zilch

Aim 6
Pay off my Car Loan early - at the moment I would need £2329.40 (obviously this will decrease over time).
Progress: zilch - although now the amount has reduced to £2206.80.

Aim 7
Save 3 months salary into my ISA (my just in case fund). At present this amounts to £3495.27.
Progress: zilch

Aim 8
Save £755.00 for next years holiday (hoping to visit a friend in Sri Lanka!)
Progress: zilch

Aim 9
Save £5000 towards a deposit for a place of our own.
Progress: zilch

Overall, it's a mixed bag really. I overspent on grocery shopping and going out, but with lots of friends coming to visit and Easter it was entertainig ahoy, hence bending the budget slightly.

Here's to a frugal May!
