This somewhat bamboozles me! How can you not have a list when you go shopping?! If I did that I'd end up with lots of half meals that don't go together. So, a good tip if you're not already doing it, but it doesn't really help me!
I do think Love of my Life and I spend a lot on food, but we're not really big drinkers, neither of us smokes - so I guess we're allowed one vice, eh?
I guess the next tip might be better (and certainly more interesting) for us:
8. When was the last time you went to the market? One way to beat the supermarkets - that is, to eat healthily for less - is to use your local market stall. Lower overheads should mean lower prices. At the time of writing, cherries were on sale in Asda for £2.99 for 400g, the equivalent at the local market was going for just over £1. Saving: £100+
So, the challenge is taken - today I am going to go to the supermarket (with my trusty list). Tomorrow I'll pull together a breakdown sheet of everything I've spent this week, and next week everything we buy has to come from the market. It will be interesting to see if it's a.) possible and b.) cheaper!
PS> Anyone know any good local markets???
