- Shop around and choose the deal that suits you rather than the salesperson
- Beware of small print. Sometimes a deal looks cheaper on the surface but locks you into a longer term contract which might work out more expensive in the long run.
- Always read the terms and conditions and make sure you know exactly what you're signing up to
- Make sure the provider has an approved code of conduct for dealing with customer complaints and has signed up to an alternative dispute resolution scheme
- Do your research. Use the internet or Citizens Advice Bureau to find out as much as you can about the company you're thinking of signing up to
