It dawned on me today...no wonder I have trouble making ends meet...I'm a girl. And, unlike menfolk, who get to splash their cash on luxuries such as flat-screen, HD ready, Digital surround sound TV's - we, get to spend our hard earned cash on those lovely girlie essentials that we can't do without. Shampoo, conditioner, face wash, face packs, foundation, eye shadow, blusher, mascara, the brushes to apply the stuff, lipstick, powder, shaving gel, razor blades, shower gel, exfoliating shower gel, deep conditioning mask, eye make up remover, cleanser, toner, moisturiser, body lotion....the list is endless. OK, I know the new metrosexual man might indulge in the odd application of Nivea for Men, but blokes are never going to have to fork out as much as us girlies on, well, looking half decent.
Add to that those lovely monthly essentials - tampons, and you can start to see why our purses are looking decidedly empty. Then there's what feels like a genetic disposition we have to purchase more handbags than there are days in the week, and totally impractical shoes which we can't walk in. Throw in a bit of time off work to pop out a few sprogs, let alone the fact that we probably earn less than our male colleagues anyway. And, there we have it...a one way ticket to financial ruin...well almost! Meanwhile blokey is thumbing through the Sony catalogue wondering what gadget to purchase next.
Didn't get chance to research water today. In fact the only thing I did find out is that when it gets really cold, water freezes all over your windscreen - thank god for walking to work! Been shopping around again today, managed to get some bargains. Although have to start the hunt for bargains afresh tomorrow as there are more of those delightful 'girlie essentials' to purchase. Tomorrow it's the turn of toner and hair straightening balm, and believe me I'm on a mission to find the cheapest deal in town!
